Alignment: Maximizing The Energy of Everyone
Greetings one and all! Man! Whew! I stayed up last night and watched the Mavericks come back to win last night in the 5th game of their series against the Golden State Warriors. I thought we were going to loose, but Dirk put us on his shoulders and brought us back! But we still have pressure on us to win Thursday night too. We were none 9 points and came back to win at home. It will be 100 times harder to do that in Oakland. I hope we win, but not betting on it.
Now on to Simple Church. The next part of being a simple church is to have alignment. The authors define it as the arrangement of all ministries and staff around the same simple process.
We need to build a great team around us. Like Herb Brooks in the classic movie Miracle. We have to be united as a church on the same what (purpose) but also on the same how (process).
To do this we must recruit on the process, offer accountability, implement the same process everywhere, unite leaders around the process, and ensure that new ministries fit.
The results of no alignment can be devastating. Look at Numbers 13. This is the story of when God was going to take His people the Israelites into the promised land. They were on the brink of taking it, but then Moses picked twelve people, one from each tribe, to go and spy out the land. They did and ten of them came back and said they couldn't take it. Only two of them (Joshua and Caleb) said they could take the land the Lord had promised them. But the other ten prevailed in convincing the people with negative reports. They didn't take it. Unity on the process is vital. Tomorrow we'll look at focus: saying no to almost everything.
Now, it's Wednesday. This is the day to pray especially hard for the AIM students. And especially this month. In May (and June too) many of the AIM teams will leave home to go to their AIM fields. Please be praying for them as they make final preparations to leave their homes and families to go to their mission fields. And for the AIMers still on the fields too. And my friends about to leave for New Zealand and Russia too. Thanks everyone! Be blessed!
